Krabi Loving

Ohai! Finally got myself settled down to blog about my Krabi trip with my boy, to celebrate our 5th year together in advance. I wanted to have a holiday that wasn't about all about shopping (definitely need shopping in every holiday trip!). I wanted more of like a "resort" feel holiday and yup, we decided on Krabi!

About to board!
Let's go!

When we arrived at the airport, the transportation that we have arranged to pick us up didn't turn up. It was pretty disappointing cause we were really excited to know how it feels like having some one holding a board with your name to pick you up from the arrival hall. Meh. It turned out that they couldn't reach us to get a confirmation for the service. Well, we still made our way to Apasari ourselves!

 Greeted by the beautiful sea.

Day 1
This is our hotel room. I felt really guilty cause when the boy was trying to book the hotel, I kept telling him to choose the cheapest one cause I didn't want to spend too much on the lodging since we won't be back till night. Turned out I was wrong, we had so much free time and we didn't have much facilities around our hotel that we could spend our time at. There weren't any big fanciful swimming pools and nice views :( Sorry bi! The experience could have been so much better.

But I have to say I love the hotel room! It's just about the right size for us two, and the two cute towels were of different designs every time the housekeeping is done.
The first day was an elephant as you can see from the photos. I think the next day was a carrot. Haha.

We settled down and started to explore the area outside our hotel. Honestly, the first night was so bad. The sun was atrocious and the shops didn't appeal to me. I went back really grumpy and we cleared the streets in simply an hour.

Thai food that we order in an Italian restaurant. The whole street was filled with a lot of Italian restaurants surprisingly and there were also many shop owners who weren't Thai. Food was average. I just couldn't handle the boredom so we decided to head down to Krabi Town. The food there I say, is good! Mad happy cause there were authentic Thai food! We would have totally went back on the 2nd night but unfortunately we didn't. The sole reason was that a trip down to Krabi Town costs $500 baht?! Ridiculous or what? It's around $20+ sgd. All these "taxis" have signboards stating how much they charge so I guess bargaining doesn't work much here in Krabi.
Well, we snagged a $600 baht to and fro.

On what they call a taxi, but it's just a tuktuk actually. Onwards to Krabi Town!

Fried ice cream found in Krabi too!

Something about the food in Thailand is that they add crazy amount of syrups onto their sweet food. The ball above is drizzled with lots of condensed milk and blueberry sauce and sprinkles. All that sugar.

Fried Oyster

Phat Thai

Both at only 30 or 35 baht. Can't remember. Either way, It's so cheap and the serving is huge! There were also generous amount of oysters and prawns. So worth it. I thought just the two of us couldn't finish the food but it was so delicious they we cleared the food unknowingly!

MY FAVOURITE!!!! SO SAD WHY IS THIS NOT SOLD IN SINGAPORE!?!?! IT'S SO YUMMY?! My reaction was O.O when I saw them selling it. The very first and last time I had this was during the OSLE trip and I was silly enough to have only bought 3 pieces from the uncle selling it. It tasted so good but we were already down the streets so I couldn't turn back to get more. I tasted it only once, but never forgot about it. Haha. I literally squealed when I saw this selling at the night market. All these above, for only 20 baht I think. I need it now :(

The night market at Krabi Town was really small on that day since it was a weekday, so only the food section were opened. We bought mango sticky rice too!

Day 2
Day 2 of our itinerary was island hopping and snorkeling. So yup! Waiting at the lobby to be picked up to the location.

First time on a speedboat, so I was CRAZY excited. We took the anti motion sickness pill so both of us thoroughly enjoy the speedboat ride. It was so much fun having the seabreeze blowing through our faces. My hair had so much volume from the sea salt, wind and sun. Haha

Approaching Maya Bay.

 It's really beautiful.

Thank you random tourist who took such nice pictures for us! If only everyone in the background weren't in the picture. Gah! The place was really beautiful, sand was super uber white and fine. We weren't given much time to explore the place and I spent half the time in the toilet. Poor boy spend half his time exploring the area outside the toilet :( We were really lucky cause we were told to gather and set off at 10 am from location but turned out that the tour guide's time were 15 minutes ahead of ours. We saw one of the guides at 9.45 and she told us it was time to gather. Even though we felt it was still rather early, we still went to the meeting area. 4-5 members of the group were left behind because they were not on time. I mean literally left behind. The speedboat just left without them. It was so shocking and scary. Then, we know the tour guide meant his words when he said he would leave even if you are not back if you don't return on time.

With our life vest ready to go snorkeling! Not gonna lie. I hate fishes. I am really afraid of them I don't and know why I have this fear. But I know I had to do it. I kept yelling at my boyfriend cause he kept making sudden movement to catch my attention when he saw fishes and wanted me to have a look at them too. Intentions being good aside, it was really scary cause I thought something huge or dangerous  was around me.

The area we were snorkeling at. We snorkeled at several locations and the first location didn't have much fishes. Thank god for that. The second one was full of fishes. The tour guide kept throwing bread into the water near us and the fishes just swarmed towards where we were. I freaked out. Period. My boyfriend was bitten by the fishes and the only conclusion I derived from this was that he was so fair the fishes thought he was a huge piece of bread.

Feeling upset cause my boyfriend takes unbelievably ugly photos. So ugly I can't even....

Spot the bobbing head in the center of the pic. Yup, that's my daredevil boy. Swimming deep without a life jacket. Yes, he did get a scolding from me after.

Well, second day of the tour kind of ended and we were back at the hotel around 5pm. We washed up and looked for snacks around the same streets we went on the first day. Surprisingly, everything looked more appealing and exciting. Maybe cause we're finally in the mood. Haha.

Very very yummy pancake! Had this for 2 consecutive days!

Saw this "beauty" and I asked for a photo. "She" was obviously more interested in my boyfriend. Not cool. And she asked for tips for the photos! Extorted.

I haven't had the "authentic" coconut ice cream at Chatuchak before :( So I really didn't know the taste of real coconut ice cream! Despite that, I still got really excited about the cup in my hands.

Extremely burnt just after the first day of tour. Did I mention? I'm still peeling now :'( That's about 3-4 weeks from the holiday already!

Very yummy thin crust pizza at only 190 baht! We had that for supper for the 2nd and 3rd night.

Day 3
Cave kayaking, exploring the limestone caves, fresh spring water swimming and elephant trekking!

My stance - not bad. Haha.

I was pretty worried about flipping into the water but we didn't! Yay!

Exploring the cave and trying to decipher what our ancestors drew on the walls of the cave. Pretty interesting I must say.

Our very wonderful guide

Our very wonderful guide and us.

Had our lunch and proceeded on to the next location!

Cannot get over how fair my boyfriend is. He glows.

Can't get over.

Still can't get over.

Didn't want to get wet so I didn't get into the water and probably that's the reason why sunburn didn't heal as fast as my boyfriend. The water was really really cold and I guess that helped.

Onward to the next location for our next activity! Elephant Trekking! I was telling my boyfriend how part of me really rejected this activity cause I wasn't supportive of these elephants being held captive, and tortured at any time by their trainers if they didn't perform the tasks assigned. On the other hand, I was worried if I didn't support them, the trainers would vent their anger on the elephants if they couldn't generate any revenues. Ah! So confused. We arrived at the camp and got introduced to the trainer and our elephant, Som Boon. I'm not sure how her name is spelt but yea. She's 47 and still young! Upon talking to the trainer my worries were cast aside as I could tell he really treated her like his baby girl, or a close friend. He kept praising her, saying that she's very beautiful and playful.

Som Boon was indeed very playful and hungry. Haha. She kept snacking along the way and if you can see from the photos, she looks happy. So I'm happy :) We had much fun with her and the trainer if you could see from the photos below.

I know that elephants have superb memory. Lohan the trainer told us the next time we return, she'll still remember us. I hope she really does! We had a really good time there and we gave a very generous tip. Hahaha.

Back to hotel, got changed, dressed up and ready to head out to explore Krabi at our last night!

Boyfriend on the phone booking for Thai massage for that night!

Patronized the same Italian restaurant we went to on our first day cause the pizza was really good!
We took a stroll along the beach at night, enjoyed the night breeze. We also set a "kong ming deng", which is also a sky lantern into the night sky and watched it bring our wishes up and high.

It was a really simple trip and I did activities that I haven't done before, so I'm really happy with that. Only regret was that we didn't get to do much water activities like banana boat or the flying squirrel. Gahhh! I wanted to try it so bad!

Thank you for reading! Signing off with hugs and kisses! :)
